The Oaks House is a rare Greek Revival cottage built around 1856 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The four-term mayor, James H Boyd, occupied the home, and this property was purchased from the Boyd family by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Mississippi (NSCDA-MS) in 1960. The home has operated as a house museum by The Oaks House Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. The Dames have decided to close the museum and sell the property, which provides an opportunity to purchase this property and use it as an office or residential. The house is in good condition but will need updates for commercial or residential use. The front fence could be taken down to install a driveway and parking on the grounds.
